Adam E. Isler

American, born 1957
Photographer Adam Isler is a New York street photographer, born and bred. His early work focused on the raucous street antics of the turbulent late 1960s in New York’s Central Park. In the mid to late '70s he worked as an event photographer and had the opportunity to photograph some notable political figures through his work at UN Plaza. After an absence of several years he returned to photography in 1999, forsaking film for digital and quickly returned to capturing the often unobserved minutiae of daily life in New York.

Recent projects include the  HYPERLINK "http://islerphoto.zenfolio.com/p143852560/" \t "_self" Sidewalks of NY, a series of “found” compositions on the streets of the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Also, inspired by the beautiful work of Saul Leiter’s Early Color, Isler has been developing a series of color compositions “grabbed” from the streets of New York as well, represented here by Transcendental Color. In Couleurs Locales each image focuses on a limited color palette of two major colors and a single neighborhood of Manhattan or Paris.
His Black & White work is held in several private collections and is largely divided between his love of the people in the subway system as a subject, here represented by New York, London’s Underground and the Paris Metro, and the many occupations pursued on upper Broadway in Manhattan.
